Help Question about SD cards

I have a 16Gb SD card that I want to use with my Triumph when I finally get it. I figured the easiest way to do it is to install the card before even activating the phone. My question is, are there files on the pre-installed 2Gb card that I need to transfer to the 16 card first?
Or should I activate the phone first and then install the bigger card?
TIA!

You should be able to put the new MicroSD card in without having to copy files from the pre-installed card. The operating system files are on the on-board memory.

absolutely no critical android OS files are ever, ever stored on the SD card.

you can move app data to the cards, and cache data, but thats it.

if you pull out the SD card, the phone works fine, if there were apps on the card, the phone just cant find them, if you put in another SD card it will download the app data again from the play store and re install the apps.

the SD card is removable storage, not a crucial part of the phone. swap it anytime.
