Root Question about setting up the Android SDK

I recently switched computers, so im trying to reinstall it and im doing so by following the steps in the Pre-requisite section of this guide: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/53963-guide-stock-1-5-latest-root-2-1-a.html

It says that I should be getting a "#" when i type adb shell since I'm already rooted. Instead, I'm getting "sh-3.2#"



Is it safe to continue? <_< Or did I do something wrong?

I'm trying to use the SDK to install busybox but I can't seem to connect. My phone used to show up with htc sync and SDK but since I rooted it doesn't show up on either. Any ideas?

I remember I used to have an option to choose htc sync on my phone when I plugged it in but now with root I only have mount or unmount.
