I have an unlocked galaxy s2 im using in the us on at&t. im on 2.3.3 baseband version buke1 and rooted, can i flash any of the stock 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 roms lke xxki3 or xwki4? will it affect my unlock? thanks

by unlocked do you mean no bloatware, or purely sim?
no firmware upgrade will re-lock your sim
if you mean bloatware, then you will only get your carrier-specific stuff back on a firmware upgrade if you flash an official carrier-specific file in odin. These are on a separate thread on the xda forum. If you use this link for your firmware then you will be fine

so the firmware im on doesn't matter? i can just flash any firmware without messing something up? i'm not worried about keeping any of the carrier stuff i just want to update the firmware without messing the phone up. Thanks for the reply

There is always a danger of messing up when flashing. your pc could crash, you could get a power cut our it may lose sight of the usb.

I always flash on my laptop thereby eliminating the risk of power cut.

Having said all this you need to be extremely unfortunate for something bad to happen just as long as you follow the instruction to the letter.
