question about the droid (physical)

So todays a nice day out and my phones in the sun so i see two little circles in the top left opposite the notification light and the what im assuming is the light sensor. Anyone know what these are?

light sensor and notification led are on the top right

the ir/proximity sensor is on the top left

Fab is right. The left side sensor is the one that shuts the screen off when you put it up to your face to talk.
