Root Question about tweaking RAM on the EPIC 4G

Hello everyone from the old west -

I just purchased this phone; I was due for an upgrade. At first i chose the Samsung Transform, but I'm glad I got out of that phone because it was a mess.

I noticed that the stock task manager doesn't list all the apps in the backround as ATK (Advanced Task Killer) does. How much RAM do you guys have available. The highest my phone has gone up to was 288 MB out of 338 available, and the most available I've had was when the phone was at 186 or so out of 338 mb....

I'm not running anything, and the RAM goes up to 260 plus at times. Is there a way to tweak the RAM so I can control it better.

I think I should just be a man and root the phone to get rid of all that Sprint junk....

My RAM usage usually varies between 218 and 266 (right now, it's sitting at 243). As long as it's not constantly above 300 you should be fine. I don't think trying to keep it below 200 would increase performance at all.

The phone will close out things as it needs it to keep the phone running smooth. Just remember to properly close out apps when finished with them by using the back button until it closes or prompts you to exit. Rooting and getting rid of bloat will help as would a rom.

Alright, I see. I really have an urg to root the phone, but I'm kind of afraid of bricking the device. However, if I follow the instructions I should be okay. What the heck.....you live..you learn....
