Question about unsubsidized Androids

Have the Vibrant, hate the Vibrant. Thinking of buying the Optimus 2x (or another dual core) once they are announced for T-Mo. I will be buying this full price with no subsidy. Will my phone still have carrier bloatware? Also, if LG updates the phone- will I get the update before people tied to a bloat ridden subsidized phone?

I was never sure about this, it will be my first full price purchase.

If you mean your buying a phone thats not on pay as you go or on a monthly contract and does not come with a simcard then yes all the crap that phone companys put on it won`t be on there.

Hope that helps

So, If I go to a T-Mo store and buy the phone for the $529ish, it will still have the bloat but If I buy it from LG's website, it won't?

Yep, im sure of it. Always best to get a phone stright from the company that make the phone

Here in the uk, you can`t buy a simfree phone from T-moble or any other mobile phone carrier. The whole point of getting a phone from a carrier is to be on there network

Hoped I helped

i DON;T KNOW HOW lg IS SELLING THE PHONE. iF IT HAS THE tmo LOGO ON IT, IT WILL COME JUST LIKE IT WOULD IF YOU BOUGHT IT WITH A tmo SUBSIDY.

EDIT: misscaps

I don't get the hatred for carrier bloat. Ok, I get it, carrier and sometimes manufacturer added stuff sucks.

If you don't like it, just install launcher pro or ADW or any of the other 500 launchers and be done with it. These phones are so fast and have so much storage now that the tiny bit of bloat that's on there won't affect anything.

If you're really anal about it, then root and use Titanium backup to remove the stuff.

How much more would you want?

If it's not carrier branded, you have to wait for the manufacturer to release updates for it.
If it is carrier branded, you have to wait for the manufacturer to release updates for it and THEN wait for the carrier to add their useless bloat.

It doesn't matter too much though if you want to root...

A subsidy is a subsidy. Whether you pay one or not has no direct effect on bloatware. Whether or not you end up with bloatware is determined by whether or not a device was loaded with software for the carrier that includes the bloat.

Branded versus unbranded is more relevant to your question.

That is not correct. Try buying a phone off the LG site. It sends you to the carrier's site.

People read stuff on forums and assume it's true and also parrot what they read to others without any sort of verification. I'd like to see someone actually post the adverse side effects of carrier bloat for once rather than crying out "Oh noes!" and assuming it's the end of the world...

Problem solved.
