Help Question for no-root boot animation app

I would not touch this with a 39 and a half foot pole... You could really mess up the phone if not done correctly.

Haha I hear ya and thank you for the warning but I'd like to try it on my throwaway device anyway to see if it works, hence why I wanna get the file types and inputs correct. Any help here would be appreciated, my phone is not in any danger this is all on a throwaway brickable device.

The thread you linked to is from 2012 and a lot has changed since then. It also looks like it was written for a very specific device.

The animation itself uses .gif files or a series of .png files if I remember correctly. I can't be sure though, I've not changed the boot animation of a device in years.

@El Presidente is spot-on...the app that giantpune wrote is indeed written specifically for the LG Optimus Elite.

Even with root, you can bootloop your device if you're bootanimation setup (including the security/permissions) are not setup correctly as @Dannydet and the linked thread alluded to.

I'd be very surprised if modifying the boot animation was allowed on a non-rooted device nowadays...
