Root question on ROMS

I know Artine and others removed the stock music player and it got me to thinking if i made my poweramp a system app will it make it run faster and smoother like holo launcher as a system app??
 
Not necessarily. If it is a ROM that you're going to release publicly, then ideally you would want it placed in /data/app, which makes it a little more user-friendly to uninstall/replace. This is why Winamp, in my inclusion, is in /data/app. The stock music apks are okay, but not necessary/bloat/inefficient/less-preferably compared to Winamp or PowerAmp. I'm sure there are more advantages to having it set as a system app, but I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that those advantages are minimal at best. Something I have discovered, however, is that setting an app that has a paid version available (and if you have the paid version as well), problems arise when the free version is System and the paid key or version is User. This is evident for Titanium Backup and Winamp both, and is why in latter builds I have released for
