Help Question Regarding Apps

I SHOULD be receiving my Incredible from VZW sometime soon and I have a quick question regarding apps. Can you rename some apps such as the Handcent SMS app or Gmail app? Is there an option to change it so it can just say "SMS" for the Handcent and "Email" for the Gmail app?

One common workaround is to use AnyCut to create new shortcut icons (with your own entered name) to access your apps. This doesn't really rename the apps, so the apps will still show up with their original name in the full Applications list. But at least you can use a different name for them on your home screens.
