Question to those on Straight Talk.

So I'm looking to get the Gnex unlocked from Google, and activate it on Straight Talk's $45 a month plan. I wanted to hear from some people who actually have this phone who are on Straight Talk's service.

Do you have any problems? I read a few people have had issues with phones staying connected to straight talk, and of sporadic text and mms issues.

What is your usage like? I also read that Straight Talk has a "habit" of dropping customers who use more than two gigs a month of data. I feel like this would make more noise if it was true, and I figure people with this phone would use a lot of data.

Any comments at all would be welcomed. Really hoping this phone will be exactly what I want!

I have a Galaxy nexus and am on T mobile $30 prepaid plan. I get 5G of data, unlimited text and 100 min of talk. I get away with the 100 minutes because I make most calls from my laptop through Google Voice. That said the 100 min cap can be a pain sometimes so I am seriously considering trying out Straight Talk. Let me know how it goes.

Also if you end up using too much data and get dropped you can move to T mobile, the plans are slightly more expensive but you will still save a lot of money in the long run.

I have been using Straight Talk for about a week now and have no issues to report. Setup was pretty straight forward. The phone works great! The porting of my number took only a few minutes. I have not noticed any texting issues. I am not a data hog so I cannot comment on going over 2GB. I have wifi tethered with it and that seems to work well too. I recommend it!

Same here. Have had ST for about a week. All was simple to set up except that I thought I had ordered the T-Mobile sim but received AT&T. I had it shipped overnight and didn't notice order confirmation had AT&T. I called CS. They said it had to be my fault (implying it couldn't have been theirs). The AT&T works fine but will try T-Mobile service( via $30/5gb plan) on our second google gnex. It's easy enough to change sims although will cost another $15. I need wifi calling at home since installing metal roof. It was easy to set up via google voice and talkatone. Our cable internet was out for about 24 hours so the data usage on gnex went over 1gb which included some wifi tethering to ipad. Haven't heard anything from ST, yet. Normally, wifi will be used a lot.
