Help questiong for my w8 phone! and my background!

hi yal imma new to this forums ya and i just bought a w8 last night =)
the thing is i used to use x10mini(my first love ! ) and i accidentally broke it and so my dad bought me a w8..i was hoping he would buy me a xperia mini (my dream phone!)but he bought a w8 instead =( i cried awhile but i din't whine at my dad for not buying the mini for me instead i msg him THANK YOU(really wanted to let this story out since i am really sad )! and so comes this thread and some questions =)

1.is all xperia usable items usable on w8? what are the diffrence between these
2 phones?

2. whats the point of rooting phones? i used to have a rooted x10mini but after rooting it nothing happens / changes? so whats the point? i heard i gives you more control over your phone but in what sense?

3.i heard that w8 , x8 and x10mini series are doomed at 2.1 right?what a cruel news ...=( . but then i heard stuff like cynagen mod?something like that? it's said to be able to update my w8 to 2.3? is it true ? if so how to use it? i seen a vid at youtube and i don't understand what they're saying ...(cant post link!! )

4.my w8 is getting laggy even after the 1st day ...is it normal? i downloaded all the same apps as i had on my x10mini go launcher ex , soundhound etc . but w8 is much lagger compared to my x10mini ...is it because w8 is a weaker phone?

5.the package! my dad bought it for RM499 (malaysian dollars) and in the package have a charger 8GB micro SD a rather disappointing earphone (without ear buds ) for a walkman phone shouldn't the earphone be at least decent? and according to gsmarena the earphone should have controls, but mine doesn't am i scammed?

1: all android apps could be used on any android phone, given that it is running the same android version on better.. so since both your previous and current phone are running Eclair 2.1, you could use the same apps u had..

2: rooting is a way to fully using your phone's potential, for starters, it will enable you to move your apps to the SD card.. please use the search button, tutorials are everywhere..

3: Those are modded ROMs, they aren't official roms and its hard to explain in only one post, and the tutorials are everywhere.. better to take things one step at a time and make sure you fully understand before you try changing your ROM to 2.2 or 2.3 or you could brick your phone..

4: since you are using go launcher, you could close the running apps easily: press the menu button, and look below your time, you could click on that tab and clear the running apps.. AND if you rooted your phone, you could uninstall unwanted stock apps.. both your old and new phone are running on the same processor and same amount of ram, so both phones should be running okay..

5: for the price, its VERY cheap, if you could get an X8 for that price you should be considered lucky.. but you got a W8 at that price? WOW.. im not sure, but the price is kinda low.. too low for the current market price..
 
wooots! finally ...FINALLY ABLE TO USE LINK2SD so happy!! downloaded 10 games and placed it in the sd card! really happy man!

formatted it and it's pretty smooth now , laggish every now and then but tolerable

don't really get the rom part ..i tried to JiT my phone for 1 hr + and still unable to...i gave up i guess i only nid link2sd =)

whaaat? RM499 i cheap?? didn't know that my dad bought from his friend sadly thou the earphone is pretty bad and it lacks the speakers ..still i got an 8gb card instead of a 2gb hehe!
 
close unwanted apps, and you should be running smooth..

rm499 with an 8gb SD card? new W8 cost around RM525++ with 2gb card..
If your dad bought from a friend then i guess that person swapped it with another set of headphones.. just guessing..
 
ya...the headset isn't the same at gsmarena...weird tho my dad bought the same w8 for my sister a few months back for rm630 but with the same headset
