Questions about Inc 2

Hi there,
I am new to forums and not sure if here is the right place to post...if not, my apologies and could you point me in the right direction?

I am a BB user considering switching to an android phone. I had briefly tried the X, but the size was too big and I think the one I got was a dud, as it froze a lot and I never got my emails. I am now considering android again. I love my blackberry for battery life, email and texting...I am not a big gamer. I do moderate web searching. I am just bored bored with BB and feel I need to evolve with the times, haha. I was looking at the Droid Inc2. I checked it out in store, and it seems really nice. I am concerned with batt life though, as well as rumors it gets bad reception/ poor signal strength. If any of you have the DInc2, can you let me know if you've experienced any major batt or signal problems? thanks!!

Hi i moved your posts to the correct section. You were posting in the Incredible 1 section, not the Incredible 2 section..... you should get better responses here:)

I am on my second Android phone with the DInc2, my first was the Eris. I came from an iPhone and am ever so happy with Android. The customizability and flexability are my big reasons for loving Android.
As far as which one you would be happy with, according to your post I would recommend the DInc2 in a heartbeat. The phone isn't the top of the line so to speak, but because of that you miss out on a lot of the glitches you would get with the 4g and multicore processors. The battery life on the DInc2 is about as good as you will find on the newer smartphones. That is in part due to the single core 1ghz cpu (which is all you really need) but also because 4g sucks battery like mad.
I havent had any issues with signal strength, in fact I'm pretty sure that where I'm at I get better reception than I did with my Eris.
Leopard's browsing through the forums and you will find a lot of info as well as a lot of opinions.
Good luck, and I hope you end up with something you'll be very happy with!

Just made the switch form BB to the Dinc2 and I couldn't be happier. I had been a diehard BB user for several years, and never thought I'd switch. But I got tired of waiting for a BB with a real processor with real web browsing. The Dinc2 is much better. And my use is very similar to yours, and I easily get 30 hours out of the battery.

As far as reception, I thought it was an issue as well, but it seems okay. The signal bars are all screwey, so I ignore them. I have yet to drop a call, so that's all that matters.

Hi..I also loved my BB and just switched to a Droid (Dinc2). I like it so far..I've had more problems than others with battery life--but i've gotten some good advice from people on the forum about this.

Emailing is fine--it's definitely harder, but email is better in a way as you can read email like you do on the computer--it seems just as fast..and there is so much you can do on the Dinc2. The reason I got the Droid Incredible 2 is because of the size--it's not as big as the Tbolt or Droid X--it's the right size and easy to put in my shorts pocket, jeans pocket, etc..

So far so good--again the issue for me is battery life--once I get past that then I won't consider going back to the BB.

good luck!

I too came from a BlackBerry. Over all I'm happy with the phone but the Android e-mail still needs a lot of work to match BlackBerry's. I also have a harder time multi tasking with an Android. I miss BlackBerry's app switcher window..

Thanks so much for all of your input, everyone! It is so helpful to get other consumers opinions and hear about real life experiences, as opposed to letting the VZ staff lead you blindly into a unit.

I am going to VZ this weekend to play with the phones again, and will update on what I decided on and how my experience with it is.

Right now I am thinking it will either be the DInc2 or giving the DroidX a whirl again. I've heard great things about the fascinate, but it seems that it's getting ready to be retired and everyone's moving on already. If anyone has any thoughts on that phone, please let me know!

Thanks again!:)

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but if you hold down the "home" button while in an application, a window of recent apps should appear that I believe is similar to the BB method. I apologize if I'm wrong, my only experience with BB comes from my wife's Curve.

One of the major differences (depending on which phone you're coming from) is the use of a soft keyboard. I use Swype, and definitely prefer the size of a phone with no physical keyboard. But I bet that would take some adjustment, coming from a BlackBerry with a physical keyboard.

The much larger screen is a huge benefit over BB, but the battery life probably takes a little hit because of it.

It's not as good as on the BB. When I switch from one app to another, some apps seem to reload, and are not where I left them when I switched out of it. BB was better at switching apps. Not as good as running (and controlling) them in the background, but better at switching.

Really the biggest thing you will notice is the battery life isn't as great. For the messanging stuff, you can get a new app, I use GoSMS for my text messages, and its pretty much awesome. I haven't had much of an issue with the emails, however, I am having trouble with the wifi connectivity. I haven't searched to see if there was a fix for it.

You can get different email apps if you don't like the stock HTC one. When the INC2 first came out I thought it was kind of a pointless upgrade from the inc1 (and I work at a vzw store). Now that I just got my new inc2, WOW is all I can say. The screen is amazing, super responsive. The phone is snappy. I have had a few FC's on some program but I think its the blockbuster ap that people were talking about in another thread.

Overall, I'm gonna be an HTC customer for life. First inc, now the inc2, I love em. Would never even think about getting an X or an LG (for that matter a samsung either).

The developer community for the OG inc was outstanding, and hopefully as the inc2 gets some age to it, we will see the community grow as well.

Hi everyone. So I picked up the Inc2 last night. Having mixed feelings. The stock email app did not work at all with my aol. I sent messages, and they A) never appeared in the sent folder and B) never got received. The phone successfully ported in my AOL inbox, but not my send mail box. In gmail, i have it set so that I can send mail from 2 diff emeail addresses besides the gmail one. Only of them shows up as an option to send from in gmail on my phone tho...n it's the one I never really use, s that's useless to me. I got really frustrated, so I did a factory reset on the phone.
Then when I tried to set it back up, the first 5 tries failed because it kept saying I had no connectivity. Finally Quick Pulled the batt and go it to re set up. Same mail issues. I downloaded K-9 which seems to be working.

I am still getting a lot of network error/network not avail messages. My bars are at 0-2, signal strenght is about -88 on ave (is this good or bad)? Overall, I am frustrated and although it's a cool and pretty device, I don't feel like I can trust it to be reliable. Ready to take it back.... Any thoughts?

Pay little or no attention to the bars, as they seem to be a little screwey. As far as signal strength, -88 is good. Anything over -100 is fine, and -80 is excellent (remember, these are negative numbers, so -99 is over -100).

Thanks for the info on the signal numbers, hillmar2k. That definitely makes me feel better. I am waiting a few more days before I make a final decision...I have experienced a few call issues (I made a call to a friend, they said their phone never rang and they had no notice of a missed call, and someone called me and I couldn't hear them at all, though they could hear me)...plus the network error messages and no connectivity message that I received make me a little wary. Everything else about this phone is great though
