Root Questions before I update

Will rooting my phone increase binary counter,if so can i reset it? and also should i unroot first before i update to new official firmware,or will the rooting process revoke and i should i root again if that happens.By the way i have Galaxy Y GT S5360 with 2.3.6 DDLE1.
