Questions from a potential buyer

My family thinks it will be better for us to switch to MetroPCS because it's cheaper so I have a few question:

1. In general, would you recommend this phone? I am coming from a basic phone, Motorola Rival which I hate with a burning passion. If something can run apps, text, call, etc. then I'm good with it.

2. How is the battery life on this phone? This is the #1 complaint I hear for every smartphone. In your opinion, how is the battery life? It's not going to be my #1 source for internet or stuff like that but I will be using it occasionally. Can it live off of 1 charge/night?

3. (in general, about MetroPCS) How good is the coverage? I live in the Philadelphia area and according to the MetroPCS coverage map on their website, my area should be good. We don't travel, at least we won't until at least Spring Break, so leaving the area isn't a problem. My mom works in the Trenton (Central Jersey) area though and she's wondering if the coverage would be good there too. We're coming from Verizon which has amazing coverage so this is why this question is important for us.

EDIT: I forgot one question.

4. I love Music. Does the phone come with some sort of USB cable that I can plug into my computer and transfer already downloaded .mp3 files from my PC to my phone? Also, is there some sort of dedicated-Music app pre-loaded? Can I play music on it while on some other app and/or my home screen(s)?

EDIT2: Forgot another question. :P

5. The phone runs like a normal Android, right? I can still access the Android App Store? I was confused as to whether or not the MetroPCS App Store or whatever overran the Android App Store or if they were both available.

I'm new to the forum, but I'll answer your questions the best I can.

1. This is my first Android and I also came from a basic phone. It was pretty easy to learn how to use & if you don't know how to do something just ask someone who's had an Android. The OS is pretty much the same regardless of the phone. So, yeah, I'd recommend it if it's your first Android phone. It's not so expensive that your stuck with it for years if you don't like it.

2. From what I've heard the battery life on this phone is shorter than others with the same specs. I'm not a heavy user, but I talk on it for about an hour a day, send & receive about 100 texts, check my email & social networking sites while I'm not at home, etc. (Average use), and it's lasts from the time I get up until I go to bed. I will say this though: On a recent trip out of town to an area with almost no Metro coverage the battery depleted pretty quickly. I think this was due to the phone constantly trying to find a good signal...

3. My coverage so far has matched the MetroPCS coverage map pretty closely. Your best bet would be to see if anyone you know in your area has Metro & ask them what their coverage is like.

4.Yes, the phone comes with a USB data cable. (It doubles as a charger cable that plugs into an AC/USB adapter that also comes with the phone.) It should also come with a 2GB SD card, but if you're a heavy music fan (I am too...) I'd recommend getting a bigger card to hold your music. As far as a music app, yes, it comes with the Android music player pre-loaded & there are tons of music apps in the Android Market that you can use as well. Which brings to question 5...

5.Yep, this is a normal Android phone. It's running Android 2.3 and you have access to the Android Marketplace, Google services, and whatever apps you want to put on the phone...

Hope that helps you out.

1. I would reccomend this as a starter phone for anyone, its a mid range phone, has an 800 mhz proccessor, so not that bad.

2. I go about charging till full once a day(Don't overcharge your phone, it's actually bad for your battery), but all I really do is text, talk, browse the web, play some games.

3. I actually live in Philadelphia, the coverage is so-so, mainly in South Philly has bad coverage, but from my experience, everywhere else is pretty good. Trenton has pretty good coverage also. Just to let you know, Philadelphia doesn't and will not get 3g, my store representative told me this himself :(

4. It does come with a USB 2 in 1 charger, so you can plug into an outlet or your computer. It also has the Music app, which lets you listen to music in sleep, in another app(some apps wont let you listen to music in the background), and home screen. You can also download an app called MP3 Music Downloader, which lets you download music straight to your phone. Metro is also promoting Rhapsody, which lets you get Rhapsody for free for 3 months. With that, you can download music or stream it.

5. Yeah, lol. It's an android, so you get App Market. Metro App store is worthless.

This phone is a normal Android Phone, yes. Meaning it can run ANYTHING downloaded from the app store.

The battery, in my opinion is perfectly fine ESPECIALLY if you are only going to be using it as aa phone and occasionally as a source for internet access so that will not be a problem with you. It may not have tue best battery in a smartphone but with the way you will ve using it, there will not hlbe any problems with holding a charge for a whole day with some battery charge left.

It comes preloaded with the Android Market so you will ve able to Download & Install any apps from there that you would like with no problem. I would reccomend this phone, yes, because I honestly believe it would be the best phobe for it's value by far in the Android AND MetroPCS line-up of phones. Any questions that you have, post them and I will ve checkinf back regularly to see your reply and any other qyestions you may have.

As far as Coverage goes, Philadelphia from what I have read and heard bby others in that arwas has terrific coverage. Your wife also works in a MetroPCS home network so coverage shouldn't be a problem there. Coverage will be fine.
