Root Questions in light of the update...

My EVO V is rooted, unlocked, but is still S-ON. I'm able to install a few ROMs like Mobs stuff and Harmonia (what I currently run, 3.16).

I'd like to be able to do more. I know I need to S-OFF, but I have a few questions.

1. I know I need the stock ROM to get S-OFF, so installing that should be first. Should I apply the recent update before or after the S-OFF procedure?
   
2. Should I even apply the update?
   
3. I'm assuming I'll have to re-root. If that is the case, has it been difficult after the update?
   
4. Since I'm taking all this on, where does Leslie Ann's "Fix everything by turning your phone into an Evo 3d" thread fit in?
   
5. Should I just simply update Harmonia and would the Virgin OTA system updates in the current version be all I need to worry about, rather going through everything else?

Hope I didn't leave anything out....

Really, I think what I'm asking for is a list in ELI5 form of what I need to do and in what order to do them in. And what I should not do during this process.

Normally, I'm able to figure out what to do, but there's just a lot of information scattered in various posts throughout this forum. Also, my attention is being pulled a million different directions right now between work, holidays, wanting to get my phone set, too many games on backlog to play, etc., etc., so apologies if this has been explained elsewhere.

You can s-off while on Harmonia.

You can't flash update until you are s-off.

1. Like post 2 said u can run controlbear on Harmonia. I did mine on it with no problems. u can flash the Newest version of Harmonia (3.17) then go for S-off.

2. The radio update is here http://db.tt/nfAkDtL0 U will be able to flash it in Bootloader after u gain S-off.
3. No need to re-root. Harmonia has SU.
4. After you get the update if u still wanna try Evo 3D roms, u can try to turn it into a 3D. If u r happy with the rom options we have here then u wont really need to turn it into a 3D.
5. System files of the update is included in 3.17 of Harmonia. what really makes a difference is the radio (PG86IMG) file.

Things to pay attention to:
1. When updating consider doing a full wipe bc i had some issue when dirty flashed.
2. Really follow bear guide. read and ask questions until understood.
3. Don't poke the wrong hole ( i did ... ) . I used a paper clip with tapes wrapped around it.
4. when u try to flash PG86IMG file, make sure ur phone doesn't have mini usb plugged in. Delete the PG86IMG file from the root of ur sd card after u r done with it.
5. The update is composed of two parts : the system file which is included in Harmonia and the radio update which is the PG86IMG file.
