Root Questions on Backups

Alright well today i was going to flash Black Plague's Kernal over RN2 and compare battery life. After I made a backup I changed the name of the backup to RN2 and apparently changing backup folder names makes it so the backup is impossible... this is common knowledge but i didn't know this.
Any other restrictions to backups? (change folder areas, move whole folder to computer, etc.?)

You can change the name. I do it all the time. The folder has a name of a 1970 date by default so it's hard to tell them apart without changing their names.

Then why on all the backups i rename it gives me the Md5 mismatch error when i try to recover it? does it matter which version of CWM i use?
I have v5.8.3.1 touch version

i have a question myself about backups i would like to know if it is possible to make a back up of my LG Connect 4G without rooting it first? and how can i do it if it is possible? i would like to have a Original backup of my system un-root in case i have to get a replacement one day i can restore to that one and i would not have root on it.

There isn't a way that I know of without root. But you ain't got to worry. We have official firmwares that you can flash via kdz that takes you completely back to stock. Root away.

Exactly as Airtioteclint said, or if you're super paranoid you can
1.root phone
2.make backup immediately
Then if need to return phone
1.restore 1st backup
2. un-root phone

I dunno. Maybe the trick is to make your backups through ROM manager. That's how I usually do it & I haven't had any problems naming them myself & restoring them. I used to have the touch version too, but I switched to the non - touch one.
