Root Questions on Flashing/Root

Hey guys, I have a 2.3.3 C771. I need to flash it so that I can get data access on it (internet and all that jazz) I have QXDM and QPST, but I can't find the resources specifically to get the phone to where I want it using these programs. If anyone can direct me or consult me on the process to utilize my data package on my phone I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

depending on what update youre on, your phone is unrootable... but foxfi allows you to teather over bluetooth without root

I have been hunting for root possibilities for my Commando JUST to have the wifi tether for my tablet (Installed in place of the factory nav screen in my car.) I had just given up and was about to pay the big bad V so I could use Google Nav in the car, since i found out the hard way that ignoring updates doesn't work. I had no idea FoxFi existed, but now I have won the internets in my car, thanks to you!
