ive seen talk of the reception issues of the sf

im running stock, w/root and wifitether

i noticed the tether acting up, and started paying attention to the signal

at home i place it on a table with the wifes d2
sf: 91-106
d2 91-93

at work on the desk
86-106

is this normal?
is it fixed by the dj05 update?
can a software update fix it?

im debating keeping it or returning for a d2

edit: almost forgot
i do lose network when browsing the market
if i return it/take it in to have it checked i need to unroot and remove wifitether at a min, anything else?
