Root Questions.....

So I am not new to rooting but I am pretty much new to this whole flashing a "radio" bit.

I want to try out CM7 1.6.

I noticed with CWR that you have to powerdown and then boot into recovery correct? Hold power+volumedown? No way of getting a thing like with AmonRa where Recovery showed up on the Power Down screen eh?

What is the newest version of CWR? I rooted the Revolutionary Way and wanted to know if that had the latest version(I am thinking it did not...).

So when I get to the point of going for CM7 1.6, What should I flash in terms of a radio since right now I am on MR2(I think at least). And then after that its just simple get CM7 on SD-> Recovery->Flash CM7?

Thanks all!!

To check if you are on mr2 go into your settings and about phone, and where it says baseband version it will be 1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.0625r That is the mr2 radio. For radio flashing help check out this thread Radio Flashing Help. Scotty lists 3 methods, there isn't one that is better than the others, but since you used revolutionary i would check out method 2 or 3 since you might not have adb running properly.

To boot into recovery most custom roms have the option enabled in the power prompt to reboot directly into recovery and bootloader. There are also a couple other ways to do this but that is the easiest. If you are familiar with terminal emulator, you type "su" hit enter then "reboot recovery" then enter without the quotes and that will also take you to the recovery. The stock rom does not have this functionality, so yes the easiest on the stock rom is to power down, then hold vol. down and power until it boots then get to recovery from hboot.

As for the latest CWM it is 4.0.1.5 I am pretty sure that i what revolutionary puts on the phone.

For CM7 the MR2 radio is required, if you are on mr2 you do not need to flash another radio for it. For the flash of CM7 do a full wipe and don't forget to flash the gapps as well found in the post here.
CM7 RC1.6.1
flash them after the rom, no need to wipe anything before flashing the gapps.

If i missed anything let me know, I will be here all day.

You need to boot into recovery manually. I'm pretty sure cm has a reboot in recovery option. You need to wipe before you flash.

So for CM7, wipe date/factory reset and the wipe/dalvik? or.....

Coming from where you are yoiu will wipe cache, dalvik cache (advanced menu if you are using CWM0, and data/factory reset. It is my understanding that if you are already on CM you can flash a new version of CM without doing the factory reset (cache and Dalvik should always be wiped IMO)

Just downloaded the flashable GAPPS from the link. So right now I have to gapp zip files on my sd card, this one and the one from the cm7 thread (after you click the link and see the table, I have the gapp packet on the first row). So when I flash cm7 which zip file should I use?

When I have to flash gapps I will always flash the ones in the link I posted above.

So just to be clear after I flash cm7 and I'm still in the sd card menu screen, all I have to do is choose this gapp zip file and click yes install.

Lol. I know I'm bugging the hell out of yall I'm sorry. It's not that I don't understand what to do, I just need to ask questions to confirm.

No worries, this is all new for you and you are wanting to make sure you do everything right, what else would these forums be for? :D
