Help Questions

Lurker
I picked up a Note 2 yesterday to try out and see how I like it. I have some questions.

I turn the phone off and it turns back on by itself within 20 seconds.
How do I locate apps that are running and shut them down?
Is there a way to send full-resolution images through text?

I am really loving this phone a *lot*. I am up for my upgrade in a couple of months and think this is the phone I will get, if not the S4. I am getting used to the size of this phone, though, and don't know if I could go back down lol.

Thanks for any help!

Hello elaniemay. In the System Settings menu is a sub-menu called Application Manager. You'll see three columns, "downloaded," "running," and "all."

Slide to "running" and you'll see most of the running widgets and apps/services.

I don't think that's the problem, though. We're seeing spontaneous turning back on of these devices reported around the forums. Different remedies are also being reported, including factory data reset, just rebooting a few times, configuring social networking widgets and weather widgets to update manually, etc.

I have not seen that problem in my Note 2, but I do not use the stock TouchWiz launcher, preferring Nova. Perhaps some launcher experimenting could help some of those seeing this known bug.

If you hold down the home button, you'll see three buttons pop up as well as all the apps (not all applications) that are running. If you hit the trash can icon, it'll shut all of those off. If you hit the left button, you'll be able to clear your RAM which will temporarily shut down all running applications. You can do what the above poster mentioned as well however this little short cut is what I use most often.

The random turning on does happen a bit for some users however I see that as just an annoyance and nothing really worth noting. If it happens all the time or very frequently then perhaps a full restore might resolve that issue. I've only had it happen a handful of times in the 3-4 months I've had my Note 2. I don't think too much of it.

I don't send pics through the normal text messaging app (I use KakaoTalk myself) so I can't comment on that unfortunately.

S4 vs Note 2? Up to you. I had originally thought about waiting for the S4 since I was eligible for upgrade but that was back in October of last year. Don't think I could've waited that long for it so I wound up getting the Note 2 instead. Haven't regretted that choice at all so far. Really love this phone.

I left for 2 hours and turned the phone off and it was at 88% ish when I left and is at 53% now! And it's hot. WTF?! I was sure to turn it off and even if it turned on while I was gone, why so much drain???
