Quick charging question

Is it ok to leave my Incredible on the AC charger ALL DAY while at work (desk job)? Should I unplug the phone from the charger periodically through out the day? I don't want to kill the battery or limit its life. Sorry if this has already been asked. I searched and didn't find this exact question. Thanks.

It won't hurt the phone or battery, but you may have a sudden drop in battery when you unplug. The Incredible always runs off the battery, so the AC or USB only charges the battery. Once it is full it stops charging and will not start again til the battery drops to about 80%. So it is possible that when you unplug your phone, it will not be charged, but it could be as low as 81% of capacity...

It's best for the battery to not charge it constantly, or use it while charging. However, just unplugging it periodically wouldn't be any better (the main issues are the heat, and the constant discharge/recharge cycling). And honestly, if the phone is more useful to you plugged in constantly, I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case, you'll have to spend the $15 a new aftermarket battery costs after 12 months instead of 16. Not really a big deal.

So to answer the question, yes. It's ok. You will limit it's life (probably only marginally), but so what. Phone batteries are cheap (whats $15 compared to the thousands your paying for service), and you'll probably need one eventually anyways.

Ah, that explains so much about what I've seen phone batteries do over the years.

The only negative that i personally worry about is the fact that while charging your phone stays 'awake' the entire time. Not to say there is anything wrong with that... maybe i'm just anal???

menu > settings > applications > development > stay awake while charging (or something like that)

Edit: I was thinking to myself - there is no way that NightAngel doesn't already know this, so I reread your message. It's possible (likely, even) that I misunderstood what you said there, that you were referring to awake time and not screen on.
In which, disregard. :)

LOL, sorry i was vague. I am referring to awake time... Even with that setting off the actual phone stays 'awake' the entire time its plugged in. I always hated that(kinda ocd about that, lol) I attribute the need to 'bump charge' to this... purely speculation though:D
