quick closing apps question

scratching my head on this one.. say you have the internet browser open.. is there seriously no way to Close the app from within the app? I mean I see its not there.. like if you went into menu I would expect there to be "exit" or something but its just not there

is it just me or should that be there? I don't understand the point of all these apps staying open and having to close them from the task manager??

This comes up often. You don't need to worry about closing apps in task manager. It doesn't hurt the performance of the phone to leave them running. It's actually good that they are running because they open faster the next time you use them. The Android OS manages the apps running in the back ground. If the OS needs more RAM it will close them as needed.

Just enjoy the phone. Don't worry about what is running in the back ground. Let the OS worry about that.

thanks for the reply!

so are all those "advanced task managers" even recommended anymore? or was that just for earlier versions of android? my phone has ice cream sandwich on it

Yes, they were for earlier versions of the OS that didn't have the memory managing capabilities the OS has now.

If you're that worried, just close the tabs until you have none left. Also, you can use a third party browser, like Opera, Boat, Dolphin, etc. They have exit buttons.
