Quick Factory Reset Question

My Note has been a bit sluggish the past week. I have a feeling that it may be one of the apps I have downloaded lately, so I'm going to do a factory reset.
My question is, since I have moved all my music, photos, ring tones an such over to the external sd card, they will not be erased if I don't check the format sd card box, correct?

Thanks, but I'm not near my computer, and won't be for awhile. And the ones I'm near, let's just say they're my people, but the habits they have on their own computer, I wouldn't dare connect it to anything of mine. :banghead:

There is an app called "My Backup Pro" and it will let you upload all your Data to the cloud. The full version is $5 and then it's $10 for more space online. It's expensive & overpriced but if you want total peace of mind this is the way to go. Download it and backup everything to the cloud (Make sure you have enough online storage space purchased). Then do a factory reset (do not format SD Card) and then if your data isn't all there after the factory reset you can restore it from online.

Your Pictures, Music, Vids, files etc. will not be deleted even if they are stored on the phone, not on an 'external' SD card.

Android splits its main memory into two partitions, one for the OS (about 2gb) and the rest for your files. Then you have your SD memory. The point is that during a FR the only partition affected is the OS one. So you will loose contacts, sms, emails etc stored on ur phone and any apps installed (these are easy to re-sync/re-install, especially over WiFi) but you will not loose any of ur files or any data not tied directly into the OS.

Whenever I FR I simply screen-capture my list of installed apps and all my homescreens. Perform the FR, then connect to Wifi. Allow my Google account to auto re-sync contacts and Emails etc. Then use the screen captures I took of my apps list (which havent been deleted!) and re-download all the apps I want, usually disregarding several at this point that I think 'never really use this anyway'. Finally, I set up my homescreens as per my screenshots. Bingo, phones back to normal! (usually within the hour).
