Root Quick OVERCLOCK question!

Hey, i love my new Evo, i just have a quick question about the app "setcpu" Im going to root my 2.2 evo with the unlockr, so i can put this app on my phone. I dont wanna change roms, i just want to set it so i can have the ECU low when off, and running 1.2ghz when on, i should be able to do this STRAIGHT up with Setcpu and nothing extra done besides the root correct?

You won't be able to overclock the stock kernel. You can keep the stock ROM but you'll need to flash a custom kernel. Netarchy Toastmod is a good one to start with. Keep in mind that overclocking to 1.2ghz might cause some instability. Might want to head over to xda for more info.

Yeah, overclocking does cause some instability on some phones.
Read up on using a setcpu profile for underclocking while the screen is off too, and that will be a tremendous battery saver for you.
HTC Supersonic/Kernels - XDA-Developers
There are the kernels, i also recommend going with netarchy. There is also a setcpu guide on that same link down at the bottom

So i should just root it, and be able to find a kernel for my stock 2.2 rom and use that?
