Help Quick Question about MetroPCS

I messed up my admire and I'm getting a new one on the 14th. That's when it is arriving at the Corp store. If I want to switch to my ascend do I just dial *228 from my ascend? If I do this will I be charged the $10 the store charge me to switch phones or do they just charge because they did the work for me?

I asked the woman at the store if I could switch to my ascend while my replacement phone comes in and she said yes. When the phone arrives then I'll switch to the new one. Did she not know what she was talking about?
