Root Quick Question about rooting that i cant find the answer to.

Finally going to take the plunge and try and root, but before i go ahead and mess my pride and joy up, i need a question answering before i can go ahead. I debranded my (what i thought was an unbranded) branded desire using the goldcard method, then updated to froyo manually through the recovery screen by holding volume down and then power on, then installed the update.zip, im currently on:

hboot-0.92.0001
radio-5.09.00.20
android version 2.2
baseband version 32.43.00.32u_5.09.00.20
build number 2.09.405.8 cl218634 release keys
software number 2.09.405.8

What i need to know is, i seem to remember reading that after i did that update to froyo, some posts suggested that it wasnt possible yet to root it. Is this correct? If it is possible to root, does anyone know of a guide that maybe deals with this specific way of rooting? or is it simply a case of rooting the same way people always have?

So much for a QUICK question lol, just wanna be exact in my description.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Its been rootable for a while. There is a tool called unrEVoked (version 3.21).

I don't have a link to a guide myself, but its pretty easy.
