Root Quick question about sending this phone overseas

Hi guys, so I bought 2 iPhones (1st generation old ones), and sent both to Dominican Republic, and Argentina. I unlocked both of them by myself, and literally, all they had to do is switch the SIM cards in them for SIM cards used by Claros, a phone company in DR and AR, and they used the phones with no problems.

So my question is, what are the requirements the Esteem needs to be able to do something similar, or any Metro PCS phone for that matter. I read some things about CDMA and GSM, but it's a little confusing.

Any help?

CDMA and gsm are two completely different phone technologies. Most of the rest of the world uses gsm, while I *believe* metro is CDMA.

If that is the case, the phone won't work on a gsm carrier

The main difference between GSM and CDMA is with GSM you can change your Sim card to change the network, but with CDMA the carrier has to scan a barcode inside the phone underneath the battery. In short GSM puts more control in your hands and CDMA puts more control of the carriers' hands.

It is possible to use any CDMA phone on any CDMA network, but most carriers will not scan another phone because they want you to buy one of their's. You can ask someone to do it for you and maybe some carrier will do it, but I doubt it will happen.

no man it wont work, i already tried send a few metro pcs phones to costa rica and nope they dont accept them nor colombia does, even tho those countries had cdma before but they were those old ass nokias lol
