Quick question about the SD storage

Hello! I was looking into purchasing this tablet and I had a few questions about the storage options.

I know that it comes in 16/32 gb versions but I was wondering if anyone knew if this is internal or external memory. I'm wondering because I saw in a video that the device has a micro-SD card slot. Is this in addition to internal storage (16/32gb)?

If this is true, than theoretically you can have:
16gb built in storage
16gb from microSD
16gb or higher from a SDHC card
That's at least 48 gigs of space!

Thanks for the replies.

yes that is true.
16gb internally
you can add more being utilizing the sd slots.
or take it further an hook up a usb hard drive.
or stick whatever.

The Transformer can, potentially have vast quantities of space to store things.

First, you have the 1 GB ram for ready execution and storage of program and the program's data. Multiple programs may be resident simultaneously.

Next, you have the 16 GB or 32 GB internal storage. This is the 'internal hard drive' of the device. Most of the software you want to run must go here. If you go fetch some software and it does not say that it can reside externally, it must go here.

Now, both the tablet itself and the Dock have SD slots. The tablet has a MicroSD slot and the Keyboard/Dock has a regular SD slot. I'm pretty sure the Dock has a SDXC slot which means that you can get a 64GB or larger chip to go there (128GB is the biggest I've seen, so far). I'm not sure about the tablet's MicroSD slot. It may be SCHC, which limits it to 32GB, or it may be SDXC, too, making the available storage for the system truly ridiculous. But most programs cannot actually run from the 'external' (SD) slots.

And then there are the 2 USB ports on the Dock - that can handle any USB device for which there is a handler on the system. The presence of a external disk handler is a foregone conclusion, (I have a 1 TB drive that holds video)....

Hope this helps....

Key to remember for Honeycomb is that the internal flash storage is used for apps for device storage and like sd cards are used in earlier Android versions (data files).

All external space is for media files, but you can put media files in the internal space too.

makes no sense to buy the 32GB Transformer. realisticly get the 16GB base model. add a 32GB microSD for $45 from newegg if you need it. use apps2sd to keep your 1GB ram open. the netbook keyboard dock is the thing to get
