Help Quick question

Well, I'm new to the boards and to the android thing. I have one quick questions. I was reading that it's not good to kill apps with an app. killer so I was wondering how do I get those programs to stop running? I also noticed when I take the phone to look at a message that the programs will open back up and I was also wondering if there was a way to get those to shut down completely.
 
I've been using "Advanced Task Killer" since purchasing my EVO on June 5 and have had no ill effects from it. I believe that not all task killers are created equal though...meaning, there are some out there that will "KILL" everything that is loaded and running. Those types you would have to be very careful with so as not to stop any of your important Android tasks/programs that may be running. I think that if you stayed away from those types of "Task Killers" that you would be fine. Use them at your own risk though.
 
When I get a text message from someone and I open the file I have these following programs that open and run. Qik, Sprint Navigation, Voicemail, MP3 store, Music. Is there a reason why these open when I open and text message?
