Depends on if you're buying the phone from a carrier/part of a contract or if you're buying just the handset.
If buying sim free, the handsets are the same (i.e. the international, real button in centre-combined with two haptic buttons-configuration).
Obviously if you are buying from a carrier, they do tend to put a lot of bloatware (that's a polite word for crap) on the phone. Obviously this crap will be different from the kind of crap you get if lets say you buy from o2 or vodafone. But either way it will be crap .
You can get the white one in australia too. So basically comes down to the best contract deal you can get your mitts on, and where that contract is from i suppose. But certainly in terms of TECH specs, then yes. Identical.
