Quick Questions

Two quick questions:

First, I need to get an aftermarket battery for this phone. But I don't want to get one that makes the phone bigger and requires a new phone back-cover, etc. On Amazon, the only compatible one I can find for this phone is 1700; is there a 1900 one that I'm missing?

Also, do we know if having 4G on constantly significantly depletes the battery; also, does using 4G, as opposed to 3G, toll more data than 3G?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, lolfranks51 :)

It looks like 1730 mAh is the OEM spec for the battery. That was all I was able to find in normal sized replacements.

Generally speaking 4G will drain a battery faster than 3G, but there are a lot of factors involved. If you have a strong 4G signal in your area, the difference should be negligible. And data is data, whether it's 4G or 3G. You may have a tendency to use more data at the faster speeds, but it's based on use, not bandwidth.

There is a replacement Anker battery rated at 1900 mah that will fit with the stock back cover for 18 dollars.

But even though the other batteries make the phone thicker, I can get through 3 days with a 3500 mah battery with alot of use. I only paid 10 dollars for this one. It is amazing how much longer this battery lasts. I can get 3x the battery life compared to the stock battery, for half the price of the anker.

thanks for the info..

I'd definitely like the 3500, but I don't really wanna walk around with the bulk, even though it does give you way more power.

Can you link me to the 1900, if you have a link? Thanks!

I notice that the Amazon sale page for the Anker 1900 battery doesn't specifically list this phone as compatible; does that matter? Can I use this battery without causing problems with the phone?

It specifies it will work with an Evo 3D, Which is exactly the same phone as an Evo V.

The "Evo V" is a re-branded "Sprint Evo 3D" to work with Virgin mobile. If you ever do searches for accessories, Such as cases, You will have much better luck searching for an Evo 3D.

Just a tip. ;)

perfect; thanks so much!

I LOVE the larger batteries and covers. It holds better in the hand. I can't switch back to the standard battery without it feeling weird. It's almost like my hand swallows the phone the way my fingers tend to wrap around and touch the bezel. The extra weight is also psychologically better for me. YMMV.

That makes you a big battery psycho! Psychologically speaking of course.:D
OB

I am what I am.
