Root [R910]EG06+EF23 stock tar with 2.2.2 - details inside

pl0323, I simply cannot grasp why your flash won't complete.
Which version of windows are you using anyways?
This probably won't help, but you never know: try turning off your AV and firewall just in case some port conflict is going on (with windows,it's anyone's guess what's going on under the hood)

I'm considering making a desperation 50.50-DieOrRise tar for you with everything included but the efs... that's including adding the bootloader! I just gotta research it more thoroughly first, because as I said previously, I hate bricks, and already feel like sh** because of your situation. I want to make sure there's at least a more certain possibility of a fix then a brick from the new tar before I go ahead with it.

Can you tell me which file you used, was it the one in the 1st post or just the modem file?

Just the modem file.

From this link

http://k0nane.info/rom/eg06modems.rar

you will have to open the rar and inside you will find a tar. That tar is installed via Tiede's instructions (repeated below). Pretty straightforward. The only thing to keep in mind is that it takes WAY WAY longer than you think it should. Be patient and don't interrupt it.

Tiede's instructions (as edited by me):

make sure you are flashing using the PDA button.
The ONLY file you should be flashing is the eg06modems.tar extracted from the eg06modems.rar file above.
No need for a pit file, no need to check anything but Auto-Reboot
It should work.

hey tiede, just saw this. is this newer then what you have in here?

Baseband Version
CDMA : R910.0.4M.EA18
LTE : SRH-R910.EA13

Build Number
SCH-R910.EA18

I'm almost certain that that's the original radios that are power hogs. The EG06 is way way newer and a great improvement over that.

What you have is what I've been living with ever since I did a warranty exchange 2-3 months ago. If your phone runs hot you will really appreciate EG06...

Tiede, I'm using Windows 7, maybe it's the virus programs I have installed, I mean it took me 20 minutes just to shut them down :)

I'm gonna try it again this week, I really need the new radio, for example..it takes me 45 minutes to travel to Dallas everyday. My battery is at 100%, when I arrive in Dallas it's around 78%. Sometimes the 4G is just runing it down, I do turn LTE off, but is usually pops back on.

Any way, many thanks, I'll try it again next week.

edit: Modem file worked have EG06 and EF23!!!!!!

EDIT - It worked like a charm! Installing/updating apps(& obviously moving all the crap I don't want to far right page of apps...

I mean really now, what else do they expect us to do with them considering that 99% of the stock metro apps are friggin' useless!

...updating contacts, etc.

Will report back.. hopefully this cures all my old ails, which I won't even begin to mention! :D

definitely not the originals.

my phone is running
CDMA : R910.0.4M.EE07
LTE : SCH-R910.ED15

EG06 is definitely newer than my current but the ones i posted earlier have only shown up within the past few days and i only know of 1 person with them. Trying to find out if anyone else has received them yet.

I strongly doubt it. The modems should be in increasing alphabetical order, so it must be the very first ones they had... In other words, I dont' think you'll see any improvements from them. Unless metro had samsung dial down the power of the modems afterwards.
The way I see it, you get EAxx, EDxx, EExx, EFxx+EGxx
So the ones included in both k0nane's and my .tar.md5 files should be the latest.

YAY!!!YAY!!!!!!!
I'm so happy to hear it all went through!
I wonder what happened. Maybe I was right about the antivirus port-conflict thing? In any case, I'm happy to hear you have your little baby, erm... phone, back! :D

I feel your pain my friend. That is one of the reason why I just HAD to go back to Basix... (that and the fact that my last backup with all my locally saved contacts and SMS messages was made on Basix, and I needed access to them ;)) That right there, is why I absolutely LOVE CWM-recovery.

To the man with the 4g poppin up again. I get the same problem traveling in & out of 4g ranges when I try to turn off the 4g with anycut. But I got an app called powermax and it really does the job keepin the 4g off

Im sorta lost here I just want my Lte to stop saying unknown i was informed I have to use a file to get the modems back but could someone kindly guide me to the thread with the full instructions

Yeah. Flashing Basix+E-Sheep on top of this will bring you back to 2.2.1
E-sheep could have been fine on its own, in theory, but I do believe it requires Basix to function correctly. (Or am I getting this backwards?)
The difference between 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 is faster speed, a slight increase in battery life, and an improved shut down procedure. The phone actually tells you to "please wait" after the boot down animation is over, instead of the black screen with lit keyboard we have on 2.2.1
Also, of course, if your radios were not already up to date, this will bring them up to EG06 (CDMA) and EF23 (LTE) as well.
There is however an easier way to do this, if you really wish to, by flashing only those 2 files instead of the entire tar.md5 I've provided. (k0nane has a modems.rar file with only those 2 files in it which he provided me in a previous thread).
However, as I've noted before, I'm not sure what change the modem upgrade brings, as the behavior/performance seems to be the same as with the old one.

So IF i just wanted to update the modems How do i go about doing that or someone just point me specifically in the right direction this is confusing:confused:

Just letting you know that I managed to successfully install the 2.2.2 ROM in around 4 minutes of flashing time.
Just as a heads up, the modems takes a while but it WILL go through!
Already rooted it and did a partial titanium restore. (user apps and most settings)

Hopefully I'll be able to convince k0 to release a new basix/electric sheep based on the new version.

Why is my battery dying so quick?
From 100 to ~98 less then 5 min??
I Update my Radios, install basix[rooted], and kernel, and Install my own theme from UOT kitchen.

CDMA: R910.0.4M.EG06
LTE:SCH-R910.EF23

Kernel Version:[Just notice this, but i do get the boot logo.]
2.6.32.9

Am I missing out on something?

9hrs unplugged.. mostly sitting in my pocket, made a few phone calls of very short duration (cuz the asshat didn't pickup), checked the weather periodically, screwed around on the net for about 20 minutes,, battery still at 72%. using **583385## to Enable CDMA Only Mode,,, getting 3G.. :D

This phone is finally decent.. hasn't crashed at all(yet?).
Thank you Tiede. 1 internets to you, sir.

Just wanted to give everyone an update...
Using the 2.2.2 stock and a 3600mA battery, with light usage I managed to get around a full 24 hours worth of battery life. I do believe that 2.2.2 fixes whatever display power bugs 2.2.1 ever had.

That's a whole day with 4g on.
I haven't turned off 4g in over a week now!

ok...so did you flash this and then basix?...i am trying to figure out what all of you did to get better battery...

i just flashed over the eg06modems.tar...will that do it? or is there something in the 2.2.2 that sticks after a Basix flash and gives you phenomenal battery too?

i hate when i sound like a n00b...but i read this thread about 5 times...and i know the radios will increase my battery life, but i am trying to figure out what YOU did tiede...because i would love a whole day of 4g...as it is now i am lucky to get a full 6 or 7

Well I had to test the ROM, so of course I had that on my phone, then I flashed Basix over that.
So, if you wish to do so, you can try. But it is my understanding that the modems alone should do the trick.

Thanks I will look more into it before attempting anything i dont want to brick my phone=)

I will try to create a Heimdall flashable package for you when I get some time. I just don't know about extracting the files from the tar.md5 archive. You don't want some weird corruption... Although you're on Linux... So it should be able to work fine. Yeah, as a matter of fact, you should be able to extract that just fine!

damnnnnnnnnnn the battery improved alot,at least i think, seems like it never goes down, only thing it sucks is the we can flash basix or the new kernel....another thing im hatinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn is this boot animation, im using room tool box pro and they have some cool ones ,but they all .zip ....how do i change this hello hello hello shit from metro.....LOL...thanks bro,i dont know if its just in my head but i do feel like battery is lasting way longer...one glitch is that is taking a bit to long to read sd card

i see that there is a new Baseband Version & Build Number
Baseband Version
CDMA : R910.0.4M.EA18
LTE : SRH-R910.EA13

Build Number
SCH-R910.EA18
anyone have this ?
