Wow...a birther!
Is Hawaii no longer part of the United States?
People contested that he was actually born in Kenya. Whether or not it is true, there was a resolution signed by all present members of the house congratulating Hawaii on their anniversary of being one of our states of which President Obama was born.
Every single one of the house members signed it. You can argue whether or not they actually believe it (or were too politically cowardly to oppose that) if you want. Whether or not people believe it, we're going to say that he was born in Hawaii damn it, otherwise it makes us look like a bunch of morons who would elect someone's cat if it ran a good campaign. Perhaps looks are not deceiving. We'll even elect someone who travels on a passport issued by another country.
Another reason that may not matter is that we did have a president that was born in France (somehow that is OK because both of his parents were citizens. I think it is funny how a child born in this country to two foreigners is a citizen, yet if I were somehow born elsewhere I would not be a citizen of that country because my parents were from the wastelands of Michigan and still call it home.)
