Root [Radio] The Official Radio Thread

Could never get my radio issues fixed. Filed a claim with Asurion they are sending me a new phone I'll have mid week. Until then Bjanow lent me his rooted Eris , he's the man.
 
The 2.0.5 radio seems best in speed tests and network signal. Doesn't have odd issues with 3g dissapearing and not coming back, so far. Might be less consistent signal than the newest one, I may switch to it later but so far this one seems the most promising.
 
2.0.5 has greatly reduced the drain of 3g on my battery. Max 13% after an hour of slacker this time, previously it's been twice that or more.

Hmmm, I saw the same issue. Upgraded to 09.01 from 07.28 just for the heck of it. Seemed like I was getting better signal (checking Signal Strength under settings). Then my family complained that they called me a few times but I didn't answer. Strangely, I didn't get any missed calls. Also, a couple of times, I tried to dial out, but it wouldn't connect. So I went back to 07.28, which I have no issues with, except the signal is a bit weak at work and at home (ranging from -85 to -95dB). But then again, it was like that with version 1 radio.
 
is anyone else having gps issues today? i updated to the 9.01 radio last night, and this morning noticed that my gps was off by a good 2-3 blocks (200+ feet) when standing still...when moving it seemed to be more accurate, but once stopped it started having issues again.

downgraded back to the official 2.15, but it's still off...any ideas?
 
It was fun to fire up that Eris and flash the new XTR. On a side note, Andrizoid said he'd speak to the dev of XTR to see if he will port 4.5 to the DI. It's a very slick Sense rom and very quick on stock settings. I might have to track him down, since he now has an Incredible and is around here, just to give him a gentle reminder.

Did he already get his phone? It didn't come in when he expected it. Maybe he is getting it today.
 
The Eris running XTR 4.5 is a huge improvment over the stock Eris I had. It's actually a solid functioning phone. And a very cool rom I'd love to see it ported to the Incredible
I just recieved a tracking number from Asurion and my new Incredible should be arriving tomorrow. Can't wait to get it , but thinking it will be my last week using the Incredible full time , it will get demoted to back up duty I've fallen in love with another. The Fascinate is just a gorgeous device
 
On 9.01 I seem to have completely lost the ability to connect to 3G. At first it was spotty (I was testing 3G connectivity on reboots that we have a big thread on). Then I couldn't get 3G at all, no matter how many times I rebooted or programmed with both options on *228.

Going back to 2.05 to see how it does. I was on 7.28.

Just did a compare, and the size looks almost identical. They do ship with a 1500 battery and 2.1. (hello root) What did you see that was so attractive about it?

The Screen and the graphics. I ran a quadrant in the store and while my Incredible scores much higher. I remember the spots where it it's slightly choppy the Fascinate was super smooth.

I think the CPU GPU combo is really impressive and my god that screen is absolutly stunning . And the size is perfect for me, I'm not 100% sure I'm getting it but the BOGO offer is so tempting. I figure I have a few upgrades available I might as well give it a go with the BOGO deal and if I don't like it I'll sell it on Ebay . I won't be getting rid of the Incredible I'll just keep it to play with diffrent roms and such.
There are a couple things I'll have to get used to especially the side unlock button (how dumb)

flashing a radio incorrectly will brick your phone. People were flashing radios without s-off which required unrooting your phone and doing some silly stuff which I did but don't even remember and I was super scared the whole time but I pulled it off. The problem was when it was flashing the zip file it would turn off and turn back on several times and it would stay off for longer then the user would like so they think it froze up or something so they would pull their battery and boom, bricked phone. another way to brick it was to flash the zip file twice.

It's so much easier now that we have the ability to turn our security off. I doubt anyone will brick their phones with a radio anymore. (knock on wood)
 
Tried 125/ 9.01 but I had a lot stronger signal with 125/7.28
9.01 tested in the 80's and 7.28 tested in the 70's . Tested in 3 different locations around town . Well you don't know till you try , back with 7.28 now. :)
 
I have looked but cannot find anyone in my exact situation. I want to upgrade to the 2.1500.0x.x radio from 1.00.03.04.06 Radio but not sure of the proper procedure.

I Currently have:
root using unrevoked
s-on
1.00.03.04.06 Radio
Skyraider 2.5.2 sense w/ leaked 2.2
clockworkmod 2.5.0.5


Can I run unrevoked forever to turn s-off from here and do the radio update? or do I have to...

downgrade to 2.1 stock
Get Root using Unrevoked 3
Get s-off using Unrevoked Forever
Update to Radio 2.15.00.0x.xx
(Remove Update Radio file)
flash Skyraider 2.5.2 sense w/ leaked 2.2 Rom

I have the usual problems of non-working camcorder, no wifi tethering and GPS is all wrong.

This forum is awesome. Many thanks for all that have contributed to the cause. I have done more reading in the last week than I have in the last year and learned much in the process.
