Hello to everyone reading this! :)

I recently got myself an Xperia X8.
The phone is great, but I d like clarification
on the RAM memory usage.
Mine seems to be have only 30-32mb available all the time.
I d think that if I had more memory available the phone
could be somehow faster,not?
I have ADW Launcher Home screen installed and until recently
AVG free antivirus which I got rid of,but still the Ram is
around 30MB free.
I just unistalled most of my apps and got more
than half internal memory free, but still RAM is low.
Any suggestions? Do I do something wrong here?

I have just opened Advanced Task Killer on my phone and I have 23m, but my phone is running fine. Are you getting low memory warnings?

I have 30 plus apps installed and not had a low memory issue. I have to say at this point that I very rarely use a task killer - it's just there to kill if I do get a low memory warning or the phone seems to get a bit laggy.

The android system is supposed to be able to run its system resources efficiently so even if there are apps running in the background it should be able to allocate memory where it is needed and close apps that aren't currently being used.

I read somewhere that unused RAM is wasted RAM, so if it isn't causing you any problems then I wouldn't worry about it.

Ok,thanks! Good to know! I was worrying that
running a lot of apps of using a third party Home
launcher would make my phone too slow...
Thankfully no low memory messages till now! :)

In Advanced task killer you can set up autokill for processes, which frees your memory in several time intervals. I set it to kill all the processes, beside those i put into ignore list, every hour :) i get like 53 - 40 MB free ram

I never liked the autokill feature. I sometimes interrupt my game or my e-mail to do something else, and when I come back to it, I like that it's in the same state I left it. Also, for ATK to do this, it needs to stay opened, which consumes battery. 30mb free are actualy ok, as Stephen King's rosered said :)

Then how i know capasity of RAM, should i install app?

Instead of autokill use the ATK wdget just one click and unused applications will get killed :-D

Well,in my experience I m satisfied with eRay Widget for clearing memory!
It immediately restores RAM in a way that doesnt kill the X8 s core functions like other auto task killers do.Some of them when killing unwanted tasks make me re unlock the SIM by PIN! So,clearly something is not working right with these apps.

ATK widget is good?

the sim issue i know waht the problem is ..

if you have advanced task killer or any killer just put "backup & restore" application in ignore list of the kill.. once done so you will never have the sim thing issue again.. cheers :)

Thats it?! Well,I was gonna ask if anybody knew anything about this!
Thanks for the quick response Suhel!
