Ram memory

Hey i've just bought SE LWW and i have a question... i saw on the specifications that it have 512 ram memory.. but when i go on settings>app>running services i see 170 used 130 free... I've downloaded an ram app there it says i've have 350 ram of total :S. why is this? I'm new to android pls help

it's true that you have been given 512 mb RAM but the very operating system occupies about 150mb ram. rest is for user. that's why you see 370 mb free.

Also, internal memories are all built with numbers 1000, however operating systems are based on 1024 due to binary systems.

There comes the difference, manufacturers make 512MB in parts of 1000, however operating system calculates it as 1024.

Total difference: 512 * 1000 * 1000= 512 000 000 B
512 000 000 / 1024 / 1024 = 488,28 MB

Also, Android itself uses quite part of the RAM :)

RAM comes in multiples of 2. 1GB of RAM actually does mean 1024MB and 512MB of RAM really means 536,870,912 bytes. It's only hard drives, etc, that gets marketed that way. The unavailable RAM is just being used by Android.
