Unfortunately the one that you left off, "Available", is the most telling one. It doesn't look totally dismal...how does it feel? Is it unbearably sluggish? Does the disk light blink furiously when you switch between running programs?

I new I would forget something lol sorry fella. Erma its not terribly sluggish if I use like chrome but when I start using more than 1 or 2 programs then it does tend to get bad when switching Orr even running. I haven't really noticed the light blinking alot to be go be honest I think I'm just going to leave it be for now ands just plow every bit of money I get into getting the components for my new build thanks for your help Guys

There is such a thing as over-thinking something. Why waste any more effort on the old box? It is what it is. The sooner the new one is up, the sooner you can send that old nag off to be made into glue! ;)

One day I will rebuild my beloved 486DX/2 with her screaming-fast SLI'd Voodoo2 graphics..... ;)

With that trick VESA local bus? :D

Oh lord, I'd forgotten about that.... I think it has. :(

I remember getting very excited that the 120MHz Pentium II that replaced it had the new-fangled PCI expansion slots. Plus onboard Ultra2SCSI and 10/100 Intel ethernet. Oh yes, and a huge 512MB of ECC RAM! :)

Yep, that was really quite clever, although being tied to the 486 CPU it was short-lived.

I was taking care of 100 or so PCs in a department of DePaul University in Chicago, and when the first Pentium box arrived, I wasn't quite sure if the new, un-numbered CPU was backward-compatible. "Can it even run MS-DOS? I don't know!" :dontknow: I was supposed to be the expert, but I was clueless! Good times...

I think a new motherboard is in order. but if you cannot afford it just listen to the guys they are giving good advice.

Yeah i think a new motherboard is in order like, Going to get one order today when i finally deside what one i want. haha

Aww have I misleaded every one sorry, Nah my plan is to build a new computer, but its going to take me a while to get the parts together (as i am buying things monthly), So i still have to use this Pent4 for now but its getting a little bit sluggish ya see so i was asking would it be worth spending the 8quid on a 1gig stick to pop init to speed it up for a few months just while get my new build on the go?. Thats all, I didnt mean i was changing the P4 board im buying a new one for my new build any ways
