Help RAM usage

What is the normal Ram usage for the samsung GIO? Mine always hovers around 222MB/279MB even when I dont use any apps. Is this normal?
 
When I go to phone Settings -> Applications -> Memory Usage, then in the "All" tab, I see Device Memory 150MB used, 31 MB free.
 
thats phone storage memory cereberus not ram memory, and ya ram always stay at constant place that ram is used by all the system programs you have installed and 150 or 155 ram will always be there cuz its loading all of your phone and messages and camera all the other build in things, the more ram will use if you install more system softwares that will be running even you cant see them.
 
well you can view the ram in task manager and the phone memory in task manager too, just hold down the home button and touch task manager then in ram you can view total and used and free ram and in summary you can view use free and total phone memory as well as your sd card memory.
 
That is a lot of memory being used. Mine runs at about 150 if not in use.

Is the phone rooted and have you tried AutoRun manager to kill off any apps that you do not need auto-starting with the phone?

Mine used to be the same as that, and that's normal. But now that I've installed a custom ROM, it uses lower RAM :D
 
222MB is not normal unless the phone is laden with bloat and a lot of apps are autoloading themselves at startup. My phone which is a stock rooted phone only uses 150 to 180 at the most when idle.

This is not normal, there is some bloat that needs to be stopped.
