RAM utilization

Hello

I have a question regarding the RAm utilization on my phone and would be grateful to have any advice on this.

I upgraded to ICS last month and my RAM utilization stays around 400- 550 MB on average and have to keep on keep killing the processes quite frequently in order to keep it down to around 330 - 350 MB.

Can you please advice whether this is normal or do I need to do anything else to control this?

Many Thanks in advance.

Regards

Kaushik

Android RAM allocation is the kind thats "set it and forget it". Therefore what you have is pretty normal, and is to be expected.

Killing tasks manually by you, the user, although makes you free more ram quicker - is mentioned in some sites as detrimental to your phone's battery.

The OS would technically free memory when there is a need for it by killing tasks automatically based on how the line of apps are prioritized.

Stop killing your apps. Does more harm that good. System apps have to re-load and it takes up CPU cycles.

9 times out of 10, with Android, free RAM is wasted RAM. Just leave it alone.
