Help Random causes of damaged SD cards

I'm getting a little annoyed at how easy it is to cause problems with the SD card on the DHD.

I've just unmounted the card, forgot I'd done that and put the USB charger in. Then remembered and mounted the card and it's gone from fine to saying it's damaged.

At the moment I don't have an adapter, so can't plug it into the PC to check.

This is the second time in as many days that the phone has said the card is damaged.

I really didn't want to reformat after transferring a load of music to it, moving all my apps to the card as well as creating ringtones, alarm and notification sounds.

Any ideas what causes it... unmounting and mounting can't be enough... and plugging in the USB charger (set to charge only) shouldn't cause this kind of issue.

I'd hazard a guess and say that the card is actually damaged. Was it the card that came with the phone? Try H2testw, it will test whether or not the card is damaged/is the capacity it's supposed to be.

I finally got sick and tired of the card getting corrupted at random.

Yesterday it was fine, today I noticed that all my notification sounds had changed to defaults even though the phone had been untouched since I went to bed.... and it was working perfectly then.

Checked the card and it was mounted ok with no problems it seemed, but all notifications, ringtones and other sounds has disappeared from the phone.

Hooked it up as a hard drive to PC, and found the media folder along with half a dozen other folders were renamed and couldn't be accessed.

When I tried to mount the card on the phone again... it was corrupted.

This is not the first time it's happened, and I've run the programs to test it and it found 2 sectors which it was supposed to have sorted.

So I'm finally sick of this happening, losing music, pics, sounds and having to install everything again... like about 20 or so apps.

Just ordered a samsung 16gb class 6 card from amazon to replace it... fingers crossed it resolves the problems I'm having.
