Help Random "new email" notification... but no new emails?

I've seen this happen for the past month, and I have no clue why it does this. On occasion, my phone vibrates to tell me I got a new email. Sometimes, this notification disappears immediately afterward, or it stays there. When I see it, I tap on the notification which leads me to my YouTube gmail account. It shows that it is refreshing for new emails, but no new emails are there. I go to my computer to double check if there are in fact new emails, but there are none. Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a simple way to fix this?

happens to me all the time . . . Only on gmail. . .

Usually, its an email I've already read, but flags as new anyway.

I have Words With Friends downloaded and the same thing happens with that.... I have no idea why.
