Random Notification Alerts

Right, I just recently got a HTC Hero, and it's lovely, except for one thing: it will sometimes go through phases of making the new email notification noise every few minutes for no reason which is a bit annoying. Someone else posted that it might be it connecting to something via bluetooth and it makes the noise every time it syncs up, but I have bluetooth switched off most of the time.

I am mystified.

Any help would be most welcome.

Anyone? I bought it very recently, it's the 2.73.771.73 build number and I can't seem to see any reason for it to be notifying me of anything, there's nothing in the notification bar at the top, it just makes its noise and then when i check, nothing. As you can imagine, this is quite annoying, so I'd like any help anyone can give me.

Try resetting it to factory settings and see if it repeats.

OK I worked it out it was set to make a notification when it connected to a roaming network which it obviously does a lot, can just turn it off. lovely! But still a bit annoying that such a weird setting would exist or that I'd have to hunt the menus to find it.
