Random notifications with Handscent SMS

Somehow the notification sound keeps changing to music. Originally it was some lame internal ring tone, I kept changing it to a Portal Soundboard notification that I installed, and now it's kind of working. But then I notice some music playing in my pocket, and it's randomly selected some music I loaded on the SD card, it plays the notification I selected, but then it'll also play music. I have no idea what's going on. It's weird to hear music, then realize it's in your pocket, only to check your settings and find out that it's not even supposed to be happening in the first place.

Anyone else notice some weirdness with randomly changing ringtones or notifications?

Aha, sorted this out. Evidently there is a deeper menu that has more options. The normal settings menu only gives you the option to set a single notification, i had the reminder notification enabled (also this is app was copied using titanium backup from another phone). It seems the deeper settings menu was overriding the "quick settings" menu.
