Random question Is she white?

k so me and my gf were talking and she hates how people call her diff stuff she says she is white and to me she looks white so what do you guys think does she look white? if not why what makes her look like anything else thanks for anyone who puts an opinion in lol random but she wants me to ask and see what people think

Her eyes give her a mixed appearance (white/asian), as does her slightly wider nose. Her hair doesn't help to nail down a particular ethnicity, along with the fact that the hue of her skin is a bit darker. She also could easily pass for Hispanic, as a lot of lighter central Americans look like her.

She should take it as a compliment that the combination of her features sets her apart enough that people take interest, especially since she's very attractive. On the same note, I have a Hispanic friend who constantly gets mistaken for being white, as she is lighter and shares similar features; she chooses to have fun with it, as with a combination of her personality, its a method for relating and/or appealing to a broader range of people.

Where are her parents from? And just curious, but why does it mean the world to your GF, that people think she's white?

How come everyone keep saying hispanic as if that was a biological difference? You guys do realize that the americas southof the US were colonized just as thoroughly (and ins some cases far ore brutally) than the US and canada right? There are people of every ethnic background in every Latin American country. For example, IIRC, Argentina has the highest rate (not sheer numbers) of "white people" (people of european decent) relative to their total population in all the americas - that is higher than the us and higher than canada. Trust me, they are white. Culturally they are Argentines first and hispanic second, but that doesn't make them any less "white". There are very large populations of people like that all over the americas, and not just white people. IIRC Panama and Cuba have HUGE chinese populations (or at least people of chinese decent), while countries like Peru and Argentina have equally large Japanese populations. Guyana has a very large indian and indonesian population, and venezuela and Mexico have similarly large lebanese populations. Some countries, such as Mexico, Ecuador, peru, Bolivia and Paraguay have very large native american populations as well. In fact, IN Paraguay, the native american population is large and powerful enough that the country has two official languages, not just spanish.

The point is that there are between 20 and 30 countries south of the US and roughly 20 of them are hispanic. they are as varied as the different regions of the US and each has distinct histories and population make ups. You can't assume that hispanic people (or people fro any other latin american country) are of any particular ethnicity or appearance.

Because your reading too much into it. The generalization of "white" is pretty damn broadl. Its the same when people are saying she looks "Asian" But I think the question is more what makes her not look traditionally anglo.

How come everyone keep saying hispanic as if that was a biological difference? [...] You can't assume that hispanic people (or people fro any other latin american country) are of any particular ethnicity or appearance.
It's not an assumption. Aside from a discussion of semantics, the usage of the word "Hispanic", in this context, refers to what a group of Spanish-speaking/originating people typically look like, and in the specific case of my post, the group of Spanish speaking people from Central America. The word itself denotes ethnicity (its not mutually exclusive), which again in the context of the thread, relates to a possible link in her ancestry, and the characteristics some people feel she shares with "Hispanic people". A group of 2nd generation Japanese people living in Guatemala won't be considered "Hispanic", any time soon, by circumstance of living in the region.

As Vegas said, I think you're reading too much into it, given the nature of the thread.

Being Caucasian is so over-rated. I think she is beautiful and definitely can see a bit of Asian or hispanic which is OK!! I'm white and I try to get tan :D

I would also say that there is some Latin or Asian in her family tree someplace. She is quite beautiful no matter what.

If you are trying to make her feel better about how she looks, remind her that you love (if you actually do) her and that you think she is exotic (make sure that all reference to poles or dancing are out of the conversation when you say it.;))

Yep, I agree with everyone else. I can't tell you why but as soon as I saw a picture of her I saw a mix of different traits. I'm gonna have to go with white/Filipino mix. I couldn't tell you why, it's just what I saw as a first impression without analyzing anything.

Perhaps she is adopted and doesn't know it yet?

"So how did you find out you were adopted?"

"my boyfriend and some internet forum figured it out..."

Cheers, another great tip for you there. :)

I totally forgot to say this in my tip, be true to yourself when you speak with her. Don't ever say something you don't mean which OTD pretty much said in her post. Be clear, rather just giving her I love your looks - explain her what you like. Is there a great necklace, do you like the clothing and how that makes her more earie - say it. Don't just make simple comments like I love your looks, I like the eyes etc

Again, cheers OTD for reminding me off that. :)

I would also say White/Filipino, it's something about the eyes and cheek bones. I have a friend who is Filipino and has similar traits, just darker skin.

her dad is french/polish and her mom is laotian. lol feel like i just gave the answer away to a guessing game.

She says it matters to her because she doesnt like being called an asian, she gets upset when people do because she sees it as a bad thing. she was raised by her dad and she says she feels like 100% white on the inside and that she just wants to look how she feels and not have people just walk up to her and say " oh your an asian girl "

I did use the advice and tell her the things i loved about her and told her how much i love her. But like you said girls just ignore that lol.

If i use the word exotic she sumtimes thinks im trying to say " your exotic and i have a fetish for asian girls..." so i try not to say that. She hates how guys have a fetish for asian chicks and. i dont have one for them but i dont hate anything i love the culture and her family is really kool on that side.

My dad and brother both said mexican when they first saw her and my dad always says she could pass for a light skined one ha. so i see why some would say that.

Wait her mom is Laotian and she wonders why she does not look totally anglo? UMMMM?????????? am I missing something.

As a mulatto who is often mistaken for being either white or hispanic, I kind of understand a bit how your girlfriend feels. I hate being called hispanic. I don't mind people who are but I am not. I only tolerate being called white because it is partially correct.

If your girlfriend is not white and deeply wishes to be thought of as such, I would recommend getting her some help. It is not the 60's. No one is going to lynch anyone for the interracial thing and in the unlikely event that it does happen, people just want to do that to others and just use color as an excuse. There is no real advantage to being white or any other color anymore. We all put our pants on the same way.

When I get home, the evil empire will not deter me from looking at Flickr photos and I'll let you know if I think she looks white (but who really cares what I think, anyway?)

EDIT: OK, I was writing my post when you posted that she is not white. It may seem disrespectful to call her a twinkie "golden on the outside but white in the middle" but it seems that she's personifying that. Normally, I would be angry but I can't be anything other than sad. It must be very painful to be like that.

If someone walks up to her and calls her an asian girl, she should kick them in the junk and tell them that they should address her by her name. She really needs to figure out who she is and focus on that. Good luck.

This is not true at all really.. Ya its not as prevalent as it was, but it is still an issue that people use against one another and for their own benefits.

This is not true at all really.

Only the people with an angle to play propagate that. As long as people keep insisting that, there will be a problem. (Which is basically what you said but the "oh noes the world is teh racist" is a bunch of crap. People are just jerks no matter what color they are or what color they favor.)

Am I not understanding or are you accusing me of being a person that is racist and takes advantage of being a certain race? Cause that is very far from the truth.

Yes there is a lot of hate in the world, yes there are a lot of people that hate each other within the same races, but if you just equate that to there is no racism in the world people just hate each other. That is a very far fetched theory.

Well she is mixed, and grew up with her dad.
You can be a full blooded Russian.. and grow up in Asia, you dont all of a sudden look Asian tho..

Maybe I am not understanding... but she cant honestly think she would look more white just cause she grew up with her father.

And being nice and no disrespect intended, it seems like she has issues with her mother? Her not being around maybe just the fact that she looks more like her then her father really gets to her.

more like her dad cuz he likes asian girls like in a major fetish way, she hates that and it makes her sick to even be looked at like that. so yea that would explain why. its not like she is full blooded she is half and just likes one half more then the other. i try to not ever look at race on anyone people are people and should only be looked at on what kind of person they are, thats how i feel race blood what ever none of it could ever matter to me.

Man Sainix, you could have said this earlier in your OP that she IS mix and instead saying she's 100% Caucasian and she doesn't understand why people would think she's Asian. I think it's pretty obvious, don't you?

She says it matters to her because she doesn't like being called an Asian, she gets upset when people do because she sees it as a bad thing. she was raised by her dad and she says she feels like 100% white on the inside and that she just wants to look how she feels and not have people just walk up to her and say " oh your an Asian girl "

I must say, I find that pretty insulting to all Asians the way she acts. Asians, saying they aren't Asians, no matter what the percentage is, whether it be 10% or 50%, just shows how much in denial they are in. It doesn't matter that she was raised by her dad. She's basically scorning the other half of herself by saying she's white, and just white and not that she's white AND Asian. I think there's a double standard there, if someone said to her, 'oh, you look simply Caucasian,' I bet she'd be pretty happy.

I knew Asians, that were adopted by white families, they grew up 'white' yet they never forgot their heritage. That is they are Asian. And I feel that your girlfriend is forgoing an important aspect of her life by denying her Asian heritage. By turning a blind eye to the fact that she's Asian, is merely her hiding from the truth. I have also have met women that are mix, ranging from 50% Asian to 25% Asian, and they were all proud that they were mixed because it set them apart from the Caucasian women and the Asian women. I have always thought that women that are mix are truly beautiful because there's a mysteriousness to them that set them apart in a crowd. My eyes are always drawn to these type of people and I simply say, 'wow, she's gorgeous'.

Until the day she accepts that 'yes, I am a mixture of Asian and Caucasian and I am proud of it,' she won't find peace.

If someone tells her that she's Asian, she should proudly correct them, and simply say, 'No, I'm American'...THERE end of discussion!!!

^^^ Agree 100%.

And she is way too self conscious. Tell her to get over herself. She is no more special, white, or asian, than the other billions of people out there.

It's not healthy to be so consumed with self image.

Sorry about that only reason i did not say it invthe first post was to see what people think without saying what she is, i never ment to come off saying it like that.

I agree completly with you being mixed is a great thing and i do think she should love both sides and never favor one more, she just needs time to work on her issues but im sure one day she will be able to just accept and enjoy what she is :)

Well, I've finally shaken off the yoke of my oppressors and am able to look at the photo. No, she doesn't look white. She should just concentrate on being as pretty on the inside as she is on the outside.

While that is a tall order, she has my recommendation of kicking slavering asian fetishists in the junk to fall back on. While that is the most fun alternative, it can cause some legal problems.

@Veagasonacid, I don't think that you're a racist opportunist (you could be but I haven't been given any real evidence to believe that.) What you said was just the rhetoric that such a group would use. Some people have a collection of experiences that would lead them to honestly believe that. This generation of people really doesn't care about all of that (they might be too busy caring about themselves, but hey nothing is perfect.)

Yeah, she kinda looks a little hispanic. But no worries, you still have a very hot gf, if you don't mind me saying so.
