Help Random Reboots?

Airplane mode.. hmmm doesnt seem to want to randomly reboot now. ill test it out for a few more minutes. What would this signify?

It seems to work fine in airplane mode still. i even restarted the X and left it in airplane mode and its still not rebooting. im afraid to try it regular again lol. it was CONSTANTLY rebooting before.

I'm curious where you are located. NC by chance?
Are you in an area with marginal signal?
I was hoping this problem was isolated to HTC phones but it appears to be an Android wide issue.

Here are a couple of things to try.
Option 1: Are you running the latest OTA update from today? If not, try it -> Settings - About - Check for Updates.
Option 2: While the phone is ON pull the battery for 30 seconds without it plugged into power and then restart it.
Option 3: You can also try a *228 option 1 and or 2 to get a fresh PRL.
Is the phone hot? Let it cool. This is an excuse of sorts but related.

Option 4: If neither of these things help you will have to get a new phone. CS will run you through all sorts of stupid things on their script, changing data settings and maybe even a master reset. That won't help. You'll need a new phone under warranty. Basically if not solvable with a battery pull for a bit, the radio stack has an issue with cell towers.

I live in Ohio, and the signal isnt the best where I am at right now. but it happened a few times earlier today at work (outside) at a place hat gets full bars 3g.

I switched it off of airplane mode and it worked for about 10 minutes then a reboot. I switched it back to airplane mode for now.

The phone is NOT hot.
I updated OTA last night.
Ill try the battery pull (i shut my phone off before the last one)
and ill try the *228

Did the battery pull and the *228 (1 and 2) - phone just rebooted.. :(

If i plug my phone it, it does not reboot (since it doesnt hibernate, just dims a little bit while plugged in)

Airplane mode doesnt make my phone reboot either....

Yeah im gonna call them in the morning and bitch at them.. They better have one in sock to replace this one. If i have to wait and suffer with this phone, ill beat someone, lol.

They likely will. We immediately got some replacement Inc's even though they were backordered for sale by a month. The replacement Inc's are working fine so far. Good luck to you.

Hey everyone! Sorry if this is a repost, but I couldn't find anything else on it. So I'm new to the whole Android scene (iBrick convert) and I have a question about my new Droid X that love with every bit of my heart =P.
Anyway, I just set my phone down on my desk only to have that evil red eye staring back at me. Phone rebooted itself somehow. I most certainly did not slam it down or anything.....just set it there gently like always.

Also, I noticed that when my X is on the charger, every now and then it will freeze up and reboot itself.

Anyone have any ideas on what is going on here?

Well I just had my first major issue and it was while the DX was charging. First it rebooted a couple times on its own then the screen went blank but I was still getting txts. I had to pull the battery and now its back to normal (maybe).

Mine also have ramdon reboot / crash. Also, Last nite, i had infinited reboot. So i went to service mode and reset the DROID x to factory default. But still have ramdon reboot. So, i just gave up and VZN is sending me new replacement.

The reboot issues sounds like it time to get a replacement.

I've only experienced the random lags and freezes....which is very annoying.

I'm trying something out today. I got rid of EVERY app that I've gotten from the Market to see how long the phone will last. Practically stock at the moment. Maybe the phone just didn't like one of the apps that I had on it. So far it has made it all day long with no problems that I'm aware of.
I have gone back and put the Task Killer app back on it as my battery life in the crapper without it. I'll try my best to keep this updated as often as I can, hopefully a new phone status update at the end of each day if I remember to.

+1 for Random Reboots, occasional lag and freezing.

I did a factory reset this morning and it was fine for a little while, but about 6 hours later, it started behaving the same way. I also did the battery pop for 30 seconds, but I skipped the *228, since factory reset made me do it this morning.

Might be time for me to call VZW... :'(

I actually did that today. My new X will be in on Wednesday. Sad to part with my launch day phone....but I need one that works =/

Yesterday mine did a random reboot, I thought it was me, that maybe I had accidentally hit a wrong button. Well, today in the middle of typing a text it went black and rebooted.

My question is, should I wait and see if it happens again or should I go back to the store and see what they say? I finally have it all set up the way I want it (and with my steep learning curve, it hasn't been easy), I hate to have to start over.

I know what you mean. We went to the VZW store and they gave us a number to call for a replacement X. Some tech support number or something....long story short, five minutes on the phone and I had a new X heading my way. Ordered it monday, it'll be here tomorrow.

I'm curious to know if your replacement phone has the same issues. My launch day phone didn't start showing symptoms until several days after I got it.

That said, I'm in the process of ordering a replacement as I type this... I hope the new one is good, because otherwise it's a great phone!.

Sadly, the repleacement is doing the exact same thing as my launch day phone.

This is what i notice about the issue: it does a very quick single little vibration. I'll look at the phone and the evil android eye is staring back at me. I was convinced that it restarted itself, however the uptime clock never resets itself. So maybe it isn't a rebooting issue? I know it isnt an app issue (i got rid of everything i downloaded on the launch day phone and i still had problems).

I've gotten my replacement now and activated it on Friday. So far it's working well. Hopefully it stays that way.

I've decided not to do any firmware updates until Froyo is available for it.

I just noticed it last week, the phone would just randomly reboot itself now it seems to be doing it about once a day its annoying but not a pain because reboots are fairly quick (unlike blackberries which could take minuets to reboot i hated it) but it seems to do it quite a bit when i'm listening to music or getting a txt/email at the same time. I have no clue what it is but if froyo will fix it then i will wait since its not annoying me yet. But if anyone has any other suggestions im all open.
