Why can't my hair just stay the same length after it gets cut? I'm sick of haircuts :p

Haircuts got a whole lot simpler (and cheaper) for me when I discovered this.

Rap is to music, what Swanson TV dinners are to five star dining.

I don't really consider anything with Rap in the title as music. But that's just my opinion.

Rap is a progression from Hip Hop, which is an genre of Jazz, the only true American art form. Frankly, I don't care for current rap themes much or listen to any of it for enjoyment, but i do acknowledge and appreciate its origins. :)

You really must be a Marine.

Life's a whole lot simpler when you don't have to faff around with hair 'products'. I always had stupid hair that resisted any form of styling. Then one day I went to hairdresser and said - just take a grade 5 hair trimmer to it and see what it looks like. I've been doing that myself ever since. It's not quite marine grade crew cut, but it sure looks neat, and a lot less hassle than before.

Well it's some kind of art form, I will concede that ;)

Ahh, the Banacek. Love that look but never had the hair for it.

Just out of interest, I looked up a definition of music

vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

The key word there for me is 'harmony'. With rap being spoken, It doesn't fit into a harmonic sound. IMO it has more in common with poetry, which isn't music.

Computers will use more electricity than the entire world can generate by 2040, tech experts claim

It wrote: “Computing will not be sustainable by 2040, when the energy required for computing will exceed the estimated world’s energy production.”

The Semiconductor Industry Association meets every year to discuss how electronic components called transistors – which power computer circuits – can be made ever smaller.

Now the organisation is conceding that they probably won’t get any tinier, heralding the end of an era where computers got faster and faster as transistors shrunk to every tinier sizes.

This means tech firms will have to think of new ways to make computers powerful enough to keep up with demands.

In defense of Rap it is emotional. Harmony is out now but it was big in the eighties. 1980's that is.

Hey! Heard a new expression for the years between 2000 and 2010 A.D. The Naughties! How can you not love that?

I forgot Country Rap. Gangstgrass was a freebie. I wonder if it still is? It was the best, if not only version of Bluegrass Rap ever made. Bluegrass is still Country right. I'll see if I can find that link. Think Man of Constant Sorrow from 'O Brother, Where Art Though' meets 2Pac.

Plenty of Linux apps will rip CDs. Most distros have a default player which will do the job.

Depending on the (lack of) popularity of the albums in question, sometime the databases certain players (rhythmbox, clementine, amarok come to mind) rely on will not have the song info, and you'll have to either enter it manually, or resort to Window Media Player (not that there aren't problems with its databases...).
