That's a shame that the design got used for such a purpose. It's an old quilting design called flyfoot and still around. I think the Navajos have used it in blankets, too. Other cultures have it, too.

America has always been like that with their automobiles hasn't it? Bigger is better, and gas is cheap in the US?
The Yaris has been popular for a long time in Asia and Europe.
The large automobile in the US is usually the visual representation of somebody's ego, an extension of their dick-etry or more fuel for the growing materialism epidemic we have. @septembersrain I would have no problem driving micro cars. My problem is the idiots driving huge vehicles that stare at their phone instead of the road. You must live in a rural area?
Personally, I like fuel-efficiency... I miss my little CRX, and more recently my hybrid.
I am thinking about picking up a used electric such as the Leaf because three market for them is depressed right now and there is little maintenance.
My daily work commute is only 35 miles or so, meaning a hundred-mile vehicle would suffice.
What you are calling a fart nozzle sound like the Abarth systems that sports cars used years ago. I like it.To each their own. The automobile, much like anything else, is all about personal preference. What you drive, or like, makes no difference to me. I don't look down upon anyone for choosing to drive a vehicle I think is garbage. I do question though, why, some people do things they do to their cars. Like for instance, why on earth would you but a fart nozzle on your 93 horsepower Mirage.
Personally, I want a vehicle that is going to launch me off the line. When that light turns green, I. Am. Gone.
Having heard the real thing years ago, it still sounds good even if there is no performance.A fart nozzle is an oversized "performance" exhaust found on underpowered import cars.
