Just gotta keep telling myself that new disc in my neck with make me whole again. Or ... more machine than man ... twisted and evil. One or the other I'm sure.

@shalemail, you'll be fine, although i fear recovery and rehab might be longer than you'd like. Personally, I'm a big fan of general anesthesia. Count backwards from 100 , 99, 98 ... a warm sensation and then you wake up with a 22 year old nurse in low-cut scrubs leaning over you (unless you're in the cardiac ward, in which case they ask Bruce to handle those patients ;) ).

Take your phone and ask the OR staff to post selfies. :D

Don't forget to ask them not to remove the alien implant, or the mother ship won't be able to find you. :p

Getting old sucks only slightly less than the alternative.

Good luck!

Wow that's pretty cool stuff. What happened, did you injure your neck?

You'd think so right?

Craziest thing ever. Almost 2 years ago I was complaining of neck pain and especially right between my shoulder blades ... there was a fairly intense burning pain there. After a couple weeks of that I woke up early one morning and I was having muscle spasms there between my shoulder blades and it was literally like I was a marionette who's strings were being pulled backwards, Worst pain I have ever felt. I couldn't hardly walk it was so bad.

After a couple weeks of ice and heat plus going to chiropractor and masseuse it was discovered that neither was helping and I went to see the dr. They sent me to the ortho - she wanted xrays and then MRI. After all that it was determined I had a badly herniated disc between C-6 and C-7 and she said it looked advanced .... could I remember a substantial injury in the past 10 years that could have started it. I have done 100 things in the past 10 years that could have but it never hurt (worst than a "sore neck" once and a while) and I couldn't put my finger on it.

Long story short, it's been 18 months since diagnosis - I have had an epidural (back when it was discovered) and taken oral steroids a couple times but nothing has provided lasting relief. So got a new MRI about 60 days ago, a chunk of said disc is now floating and pressing even harder against my nerve bundle that goes into my right arm, right side, right shoulder, ribs, chest ... SUCKS.

Hopefully after tomorrow, I get to reset.

A good friend of mine works as a produce manager for the Acme Food Stores and 10 or so years ago he ruptured a disk in his lower spine. Long story short, he had disk replacement surgery and hasn't had any problems (and I still can't beat the S.O.B. at tennis).

We'll see you tomorrow night shalemail. :) Good luck!!!

Took the night off but as many assumed my fears of an early demise were unfounded. Went perfectly, doc was able to retrieve 100% of the ruptured disc and the implant went perfectly as well. Not too much pain either. Worst part is sore throat from having been moved out of the way and my calves from the darn leg sleeves. Anyway if you need to get your back fixed, I know a guy.

Congrats on successfully moving along the path to becoming a cyborg. :thumbsupdroid:

:) What else did they replace?
Seriously though, great to hear the op was a success.

Yes the procedure was a success, soon I shall be more machine than man ... Twisted and evil. Plus I did notice that the maker of my implants is a subsidiary of skynet Inc ... So Terminator might not be that far off! :D:rolleyes::cool: thanks for the well wishes everyone. Best part is what hurt so bad before, hasn't hurt at all since. Sweet relief.
