I do not understand the term. Are the pants designed with heaters in them? ARe they made with asbesto, to keep from bursting into flame?

Does one wear them only when the temperature is greater than 100?

Mine are so old, that's all that's left. I wear them over leggings as leggings have no pockets. The leggings also prevent any indecent exposure if a patch falls apart or a new rip opens.

Male joggers and cyclers also wear leggings. They are now having pocket trouble.
What pockets are available won't hold a wallet stuffed with credit cards. Too thick.
A waist or hip pack bounces when you run.

My concept of short shorts are non-denim pants with a cuff cut to show off as much leg possible without exposing any buttocks. "Daisy Dukes" don't fit this definition being denim and fringy showing some *ss..

Are you a runner? I've not yet found a fellow runner on this forum, and I've looked. You're right about the lack of pockets on leggings. All I usually carry on me is the house key, with an emergency contact tag, in case someone finds me face down in a ditch.
