...if you have a shiny Kennedy Silver Half from 1964, it will still buy a meal and a phone call...if it's in mint condition, it can buy a very, very nice steak dinner. And a phone call. ;)

I carried it for seven years alone in my left front pocket. When I retired it, it had been reduced to a silver disk. Money is not carried like that. Mint... no. You would not know it was a Kennedy half. I made a necklace out of it and a half dollar minted the year I was born. I had to have the Kennedy silver spotted into the bezel for it was too thin for hardware to clamp it in.

I do have quite a few mint Kennedys as well as a fair collection of silver dollars. ....don't ask me about wheat pennies. :) Always wanted a $20 dollar gold piece but never saw my way clear to invest in one.

I have piles of Wheat pennies. Including several of the steal ones minted during WWII. I used to come across 2-3 a week when I was younger, but now it maybe 1 a month. They may not be worth a fortune, but it's something I've done with my Mom since I was little, so there's that. :)

My dad collected coins. Cool hobby to share with the kids. He bought the change from a number of vending machines weekly and we'd go through them. 1954 P... 1955 S son.... I can still hear the man. :)

added.... My wife is the bean counter at our local grocery store. One night she took in $200 in two dollar bills. She bought them from the till. I don't know that they have any great value but we are into them at face.

The melt value on a pre-65 Kennedy half is over $5, so you could still get (what passes for a meal) at most fast-food joints. But the sentiment of holding it that long is worth lots more than indigestion. ;)

True enough. I'd never part with it. There was a time or two back in the day that I wanted to spend it. I had already carried it so long that I couldn't bring myself to part with it. That was near 50 years ago :)

Like many celeb's, she's butchered her face with plastic surgery. :(

Yup. Very common. I saw some recent pictures of Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher from ST:TNG). Oh dear. You know, I'm convinced that a few wrinkles looks a hell of a lot better than cat eyes.

Is there no one around these people honest enough to say "Plastic surgery at your age makes you look ridiculous."? In a pathetic attempt to recapture some youth they end up looking like a cross between a clown and a burn victim. When it comes to aging, resistance is truly futile.

I must admit I like new and shiny things and that I've bought stuff I probably shouldn't have and that I've paid too much for stuff. However, I would not spend that much on a phone. The most I've paid is $499 for my Essential and that was a hard price to swallow. I honestly can think of nothing that I would pay that much for that only has a shelf-life of ~3 years if it doesn't break first, especially if it is not a necessity.

Especially seeing they seem to do less and cost more lately. Plus I'm an old fart and want to spend my money on other stuff besides phones.
